Winking Studios, a major player in the Asian triple-A outsourcing scene, has successfully acquired Mineloader, a company based in China. This acquisition comes with a price tag of £16.3 million, roughly translating to $19.87 million. The payment structure involves an initial payment of $14.7 million, with the rest to be disbursed over the next five years, contingent on Mineloader meeting certain performance goals.
For context, Mineloader has been around since 2003, primarily focusing on art outsourcing development. Reflecting on this significant business move, Winking Studios’ CEO and founder Johnny Jan expressed, “This is the largest acquisition we’ve made so far, and it marks a crucial advancement in our endeavor to cement our standing in the global video games industry. It’s a gateway to new growth and creative opportunities.”
Jan further elaborated on the importance of game art, stating how it lays the visual groundwork and brings creativity that captivates players and enhances their gaming journey. He praised Mineloader’s reputation and expertise in game art production, mentioning their team of over 460 employees as an enriching addition to Winking Studios’ current workforce of more than 800. This expansion of talent will bolster their service offerings and attract new clients. Jan also highlighted the value of Mineloader’s established influence in the Japanese market, recognizing it as a significant boost to their Group’s business circles.
