Valve recently rolled out the Steam Deck OLED as part of its certified refurbished program, offering gamers a chance to snag this model at a generous discount. By opting for a refurbished OLED version, buyers can save up to 20% compared to purchasing new.
Currently, Valve provides refurbished options for both the 1TB and 512GB OLED models. If you’re going for the 1TB model, it’s priced at $519, while the 512GB version comes in at $439. To put that into perspective, the new 1TB model would set you back $649, and the 512GB one goes for $549. By choosing refurbished, you’re looking at saving $120 on the 1TB variant and $110 on the 512GB. Interestingly, this pricing allows gamers to get a 1TB OLED for $30 less than a brand-new 512GB OLED.
The deal gets even more enticing as the only new Steam Deck model that beats the refurbished OLED’s pricing is the older 256GB LCD variant, which is available for $399. Valve also offers refurbished versions of the LCD models, though these—comprising the 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB options—are all currently out of stock. Notably, the 512GB and 64GB LCD models are no longer available new.
Here’s a quick look at the pricing for the Steam Deck models:
– 1TB OLED: $649
– 1TB OLED refurbished: $519
– 512GB OLED: $549
– 512GB OLED refurbished: $439

– 256GB LCD refurbished: $319
– 64GB LCD refurbished: $279
The Steam Deck OLED isn’t just about a fancier screen name. The display boasts a jump to OLED with a 90Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and a bigger 7.4-inch size. Its brightness also impresses with 400 nits, peaking at 1000 nits in HDR mode. This is quite the leap from the previous 7-inch LCD version, which maxed out at 60Hz and 400 nits with no HDR support.
Internally, the changes are noteworthy too. The battery has been upgraded from a 40Whr to a 50Whr unit, promising between 3 to 12 hours of gameplay depending on the title, compared to the LCD’s 2-8 hours. Valve also improved the RAM on the OLED, moving from 5500MT/s LPDDR5 to a faster 6400 MT/s LPDDR5. The AMD APU got a nod as well, shrinking from a 7nm to a 6nm process node.
These refurbished Steam Deck OLEDs are available in select regions, including Canada, the EU, the UK, and the US. They come with the same one-year warranty as new units, although this can vary depending on your location.
