XSEED Games, TooKyo Games, and Media Vision have rolled out a fresh trailer for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, a new title set to launch on the Nintendo Switch.
The trailer gives us a closer look at the intriguing mix of characters that populate the Special Defense Unit, a team charged with safeguarding the school for a tense 100 days:
Firstly, we have Takumi Sumino, the narrative’s average Joe. He’s just your typical high school kid from an equally average family, prone to indecision and a touch of pessimism. But once he finds something worth protecting, expect him to go all out.
Then there’s Eito Aotsuki, commonly known as the “Voice of Reason” and Takumi’s right-hand man. Eito is deeply invested in his friendships and wears his heart on his sleeve, even if it sounds cheesy. Despite his frail health, Eito’s sharp intellect could be the key to guiding his friends through the looming conflict.
Darumi Amemiya is the “Manic Emo Dream Girl” with volatile mood swings and a penchant for the macabre. Obsessed with death games and unafraid of dying, she seeks nothing less than a spectacular exit from the mortal coil.
Meet Ima Tsukumo, the “Twin – Big Brother,” and older by mere minutes. His carefree persona hides a deep-seated darkness, particularly when it comes to protecting his twin sister, Kako. Anyone who endangers her safety will face his wrath.
Kako Tsukumo, the “Twin – Little Sister,” is prone to daydreaming but is remarkably bright and curious. She’s a mystery enthusiast at heart, aspiring to a future in private investigation.
Kurara Oosuzuki, dubbed the “Rich Girl Among Rich Girls,” hails from an opulently wealthy lineage. She’s proud, domineering, and veils herself behind a quirky tomato mask, never revealing her true face.
Yugamu Omokage stands out as the “Teenage Assassin,” well-versed in the ways of a killer long before war erupted. For Yugamu, whose family also boasts a lineage of assassins, murder is an act of love, and he relishes in torturous, grim escapades.
Kyoshika Magadori, with her persona of “Ninja Samurai,” is a young warrior ignorant of modern-day marvels, like multiplication tables. Her bond with her katana, the Holy Jumonji Sword, is unsettlingly close.
The “Self-Centered Mood Maker,” Gaku Maruko, is all about following his desires, which makes him a bit of a coward. Still, his upfront nature has a charm, and beneath his self-interest lies a heart capable of caring for others.
Next, Tsubasa Kawana, the “Star Mechanic,” boasts extensive knowledge of machinery with a vibrant, spirited personality. Stress, however, is her Achilles’ heel, making her prone to nervous nausea.
Hiruko Shizuhara, the “Ice Queen,” heads the Special Defense Unit. Her stunning looks are matched by her frankness, often at the cost of others’ feelings. Her battlefield prowess is chilling, as she savors dismantling foes.
Lastly, there’s Sirei, the Special Defense Unit’s Commanding Officer, who is better described as a quirky robot taking charge at the Last Defense Academy. With Sirei’s leadership, Takumi and the unit are set to combat the mysterious invaders.
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy presents an exciting collaboration between Kazutaka Kodaka, the brilliant mind behind the Danganronpa series, and Kotaro Uchikoshi, known for the Zero Escape series. This marks their first joint venture in directing and scripting the game.
The plot kicks off with Takumi Sumino, leading a mundane yet serene life with his loved ones in the Tokyo Residential Complex. That serenity is interrupted by the sudden onslaught of an unknown foe.
When an enigmatic force known as SIREI unlocks Takumi’s dormant power, Hemoanima, it’s his ticket out of imminent peril. However, with power comes responsibility, and SIREI thrusts him into the Last Defense Academy.
Now, it’s up to fifteen students, under SIREI’s directive, to protect the school from the onslaught of the School Invaders for a full 100 days, with the fate of humanity at stake.
Mark your calendars, as The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is set to hit the shelves and digital storefronts on the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch globally on April 24, 2025.
