John Gonzalez, the creative mind behind the story of Fallout: New Vegas, has made his way back to Obsidian. He made the announcement on LinkedIn, making it clear that while he’s rejoined the team, he’s not currently involved with Fallout: New Vegas 2.
Gonzalez has a rich history with Obsidian, having first joined the team back in 2008 and staying until 2011. Before his first stint at Obsidian, he honed his skills at Ubisoft in Shanghai for over two years. After parting ways with the creators of New Vegas, Gonzalez took his talents to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions. There, he spent two and a half years playing a pivotal role as the lead narrative designer for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. His journey then led him to Guerrilla Games in the Netherlands, where he made significant contributions to Horizon: Zero Dawn as the game’s narrative director. Following that, he spent nearly three years with Smilegate at their Barcelona studio.
But Gonzalez’s creativity isn’t confined to game development. He’s also ventured into the literary world, with a novel titled “God Mode: Single Player” set to be released in 2025.
