Nintendo has highlighted the importance of exclusive games for the successful launch of its upcoming console, the Nintendo Switch 2.
This insight came in the wake of a shareholder inquiry regarding the future of game releases for the current Nintendo Switch once its highly anticipated successor hits the market.
Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, addressed this during a discussion. “We’ve already announced upcoming titles like Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, set to arrive on the Switch in 2025. Given the strong user base of the Nintendo Switch, we’re eager to continue delivering engaging games for this platform,” he explained.
Furukawa continued, “However, it’s vital for any new hardware launch to feature exclusive games. Bearing this in mind, we are exploring various strategies to ensure that both the Nintendo Switch and its successor attract a wide range of gamers.”
Fans eager for more details about the next console can look forward to a dedicated Nintendo Direct presentation. Dubbed the Nintendo Switch 2 presentation, it will be streamed at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST on Wednesday, April 2nd.
While the Nintendo Switch 2 is set for a global release in 2025, the exact launch date still remains under wraps.
