If you were eagerly awaiting a follow-up season to “Agatha All Along,” unfortunately, it seems that’s not in the cards. The show’s runner turned down the opportunity.
Before we dive into details, a spoiler warning for the end of “Agatha All Along.”
After quite the wait following “WandaVision,” “Agatha All Along” finally hit screens last year, and fans greeted it with enthusiasm. This positive reception could easily be attributed to Jac Schaeffer’s adept direction and the star-studded cast, featuring none other than musical theatre legend Patti LuPone. During a chat on Andy Cohen Live, LuPone broke the news that a second season isn’t in the works because Marvel isn’t planning on producing one. “There won’t be one,” LuPone stated. She recounted how Schaeffer, the creative force behind the show, came to her trailer with some unexpected news. “Jac Schaeffer, the creator, came into my trailer and she said, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I went, ‘But I wanted a second season.'”
LuPone went on to clarify that Schaeffer’s decision not to pursue a second season echoes her stance on “WandaVision.” “Schaeffer said, ‘I don’t do second seasons,'” LuPone explained. “‘They wanted me to do a second season of WandaVision and I didn’t.’ She added, ‘There’s too much to write,’ which is why she prefers to focus on creating one-off experiences. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that we’ll get a chance to collaborate again someday because she’s truly phenomenal.”
This might be disheartening news for fans of the inaugural season, but sometimes that’s just how things unfold. For those longing to see the “WandaVision” narrative continue, there is some good news. “Vision Quest,” a new series featuring Paul Bettany in his role as Vision, is in development, and it’s set to bring back an unexpected character from the MCU.
