The well-known handheld console brand Ayaneo has just unveiled its newest top-tier device, the Ayaneo 3. Building on the popularity of its predecessor, this latest model keeps a familiar style and button arrangement but steps up with several hardware advancements.
As per Ayaneo’s official blog, potential buyers of the Ayaneo 3 can choose between an AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor or the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The console also boasts a seven-inch display, available in high-refresh LCD or OLED HDR, promising an immersive visual experience. Adding to its versatility, Ayaneo has incorporated two additional buttons on the back of the device, enhancing user control.
Details about the Ayaneo 3 are still somewhat scarce. We’re currently waiting for further information about its RAM, storage, and exact pricing. Looking at the previous model, the Ayaneo 2, options included 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage choices of 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. It started at $1,099, with a limited B.Duck edition going up to $1,549. With this in mind, it seems reasonable to expect similar configurations for the Ayaneo 3, possibly priced a bit higher.
A significant feature of the Ayaneo 3 is that it is among the first handheld consoles to incorporate the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip. Although most current games might not fully utilize the NPU embedded in the HX 370, this processor’s four extra cores, Zen 5 architecture, and AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU offer a substantial performance boost over the Ryzen 7 8840U. This positions it competitively, even against high-end PC gaming handhelds typically powered by the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
Entering a crowded market filled with excellent choices, the Ayaneo 3 is expected to face competition from upcoming releases like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two, anticipated later this year or in early 2025. We’re eager to see how the Ayaneo 3 will stand out in this competitive landscape and what kind of experience it will offer handheld gaming enthusiasts.
