Are you eager to dive into Resident Evil 6 on your current-gen consoles? The excitement might not be widespread, but a new rating hints at its possible arrival.
Let’s face it, Resident Evil 6 isn’t exactly the all-time favorite in Capcom’s iconic survival horror saga. It certainly veered off course, opting for a more action-packed approach that left behind the core survival elements fans initially fell in love with. Yet, no matter how much criticism it may receive, Resident Evil enthusiasts have an enduring affection for the series. So, there could very well be some fans hoping for a chance to play it on their Xbox Series X or Series S. It looks like that wish might just be granted. According to VGC, the ESRB website recently listed a new rating for the game, specifically mentioning compatibility with the Xbox Series consoles, including the X and S models.
Now, in terms of details, the rating doesn’t spill any secrets. It primarily justifies its Mature 17+ rating, even humorously noting the use of the f-word in the game. The real takeaway here is the mention of the Xbox Series consoles. Originally launched in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, Resident Evil 6 later arrived on the Xbox One and PS4 in 2016, alongside entries 4 and 5, with improved graphics and all the DLCs in tow. In 2019, the game also made its way to the Nintendo Switch. However, this new rating omits any mention of a PS5 version, though it’s likely if one console gets it, the other might follow. And it would indeed be peculiar if they didn’t extend a similar re-release to Resident Evil 5.
Some fans may find themselves a bit underwhelmed, as this seems to point towards a remaster rather than a full-fledged remake, which other series installments have enjoyed. Alas, there isn’t much to do but wait for Capcom to possibly drop an official announcement, if there’s one coming at all.
