Right now, there’s no plan for Avowed to land on PlayStation, but if you’re on PC, some mods can make you feel like it already has.
It’s pretty much expected that Avowed will eventually find its way onto PlayStation. I mean, Xbox head Phil Spencer often talks about the games they publish reaching other platforms. Even the legendary Halo is rumored to be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2, so it seems only a matter of time before Avowed makes an appearance on PS5. However, as of now, the game is only accessible on Xbox Series X/S and PC, which aren’t bad options at all. Personally, I have a soft spot for the PlayStation user interface—it just feels more intuitive to me than Xbox’s.
Fortunately, in situations like this, modders are our heroes. There’s already a neat mod enabling players to switch the game’s controller UI to PlayStation buttons. If you need to interact with something, the square button is ready to go! Can’t remember which button makes you jump? The trusty cross button has got your back (unless you’re dabbling in Kingdom Hearts, but that’s a different story). This straightforward mod by NeuroticNinjah does the trick, especially for those who are a bit impatient or just prefer playing with a PlayStation controller on PC while wanting the interface to match up.
Plus, there’s another mod made by Chachinito that goes a step further. It swaps the Avowed splash screen for the PlayStation Studios one. While this change doesn’t really impact your gameplay, it caters to PlayStation fans gaming on PC who might feel a tad irked by Avowed’s technical Xbox exclusivity. Let’s be honest, sometimes a dash of spite adds a little humor.
We’re also waiting to see if Avowed will hit PlayStation before the DLC or the sequel, which the game’s director seems to be contemplating. Given how long these projects can take, my guess is it will.
